DO YOU HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE? I''ve been a teacher and a community worker. I've organised family events, and events for other children's authors through the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators as well as devising and facilitating craft activities for children and adults.
I'm a member of the National Association of Writers in Education & have an enhanced DBS certificate .
HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE? I charge £150 for a morning and £100 for an afternoon. I will email an invoice after the visit. There is no charge for my travel expenses within Southampton. I can email the invoice and or bring a paper copy with me on the day.
WHAT WOULD WE NEED TO DO BEFORE THE VISIT? I would like the opportunity to sell/sign books (discounted for schools) on the day so letting parents know I'm coming with books they can buy would be great. I can give you a letter template with a tear off order slip. I give the office call the day before to find out how many books I need to bring with me.
DO YOU NEED ANY EQUIPMENT? I'd just need to plug in my memory stick to the classroom laptop, if that's ok? And the children will need coloured pens/pencils and scissors for my introductory session, I'll be in touch re anything else for any of the other workshops.
IS THERE ANYTHING YOU'D LIKE US TO DO AFTER YOUR VISIT? Could you let parents know that they can still order books from me a discounted price. I can provide a follow-up letter for those children who want to buy a book after meeting me and I'll deliver any further orders to school at an agreed date/time.
